VP/ DIRECTOR- BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Our client is a very profitable, fast paced, rapidly growing, global manufacturer headquartered in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. However, No relocation is required for this opportunity. Our client is using over 50 years of science to bring breakthrough technology in adhesives, noise reduction, sealants, and composite solutions to the Automotive and Aerospace industry with locations in North America, Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Brazil.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experienced senior level business manager with international experience (15 years), with track record of success.
B.S. required and MBA preferred
General Scope for this Position:
Gathering market intelligence, in collaboration with the business units, on relevant industry and market segment trends, customers, competitors, and potential acquisition candidates and sharing this as appropriate across our business; Challenging our strategies and developing alternatives to debate and consider;Looking for new market segments and products to develop;Proactively evaluating potential acquisitions and alliances, handling negotiations, coordinating transaction work, and leading post-acquisition integration into our business; andEvaluating inbound and outbound licensing opportunities that will bring new technologies into our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s Vision, Values, and Shareholders’ Guiding Expectations, as well as the laws of the host country(ies);Provide strategic direction and executive leadership in overseeing the Business Development function’s activities to support the furtherance of the missions and strategies of each of our business units; Assemble and lead team of internal and external members involved with selected acquisition planning and negotiations; assemble and lead team of internal and external members involved with transaction details, successfully proceeding to close on those transaction opportunities that prove to makes sense after various aspects of due diligence; assemble and lead team of our selected internal and target company people to focus on smooth and successful integration of each acquisition into our existing business, or where appropriate, turn those acquisitions into new semi-autonomous sister-company formations;Identify and evaluate inbound and outbound licensing opportunities, in collaboration with R&D and other resources in the company, seeking profitable growth and taking into account the strategies of each of our business units and implications related to our “fundamental filter”; As needed, negotiate licensing agreements; for inbound licensing, support the integration of those opportunities into our existing business or help turn those opportunities into sister-company formations;Develop the people resources and tools to make the Business Development function increasingly robust;Participate as an active member of the Global Executive Team.
In the context of the scope of Business Development activities, speaking with people outside the organization on behalf of the CEO, the relevant business unit leaders, and our company; Setting clear objectives and expectations for the team and its members to achieve the strategic plan objectives and initiatives as set by the Company; performing all hiring, wage review, disciplinary, and termination actions as needed for the direct reportsPutting together internal and external resources (considering fixed vs. variable costs) appropriate for the stage of development and the nature, amount and types of project priorities currently being pursued by Business Development;Putting in place the necessary tools and practices for team members to be successful in their roles;
