They are responsible for their value streams’ performance with respect to safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost. The value stream manager works closely with Op Ex Managers, procurement, engineering, finance, order management and sales and marketing to optimize the entire value stream in the eyes of the customer. The value stream manager is relentless about continuous improvement and removing waste from the information and material flows within the value stream they lead. Responsibilities include: Lead and manage production supervision, production material control and manufacturing engineering to achieve company goals. Allocate the necessary resources to meet external and internal commitments while maintaining budgetary control. Assure that appropriate equipment is provided, adequately maintained and safely operated. Assure that capacity levels are maintained to match demand in the short term and long term. Participate in long-range planning and budget preparation. Work closely with engineering, procurement, contracts and customer support, product support, sales and marketing, finance and other functional organizations as well as customers and suppliers to meet or exceed customer needs. Conduct and/or facilitate the use of value stream mapping. Lead and/or Facilitate Kaizen Events. Develop employees to reach their maximum potential. Build a highly skilled, highly regarded and highly motivated customer focused team.
