Weather Technician

3D Research, a wholly owned subsidiary of Schafer Corporation, has an immediate opening for a weather forecaster to work on site at Fort Belvoir, Va. located just south of Washington DC. Ft Belvoir weather services provide weather support Monday through Friday from 5:30AM to 9:30PM, excluding federal holidays.

This role is responsible for aviation weather forecasting, which includes but is not limited to:

* Preparing and disseminating Mission Execution Forecasts.
* Forecasting and briefing atmospheric and space weather conditions.
* Issuing warnings/advisories to alert customers to mission critical weather.

This position is also responsible for observing, recording, and disseminating weather observations by augmenting an FMQ-19.

Familiarity with quality control standards, safety management programs, and training programs a plus.

The following is required:

* Minimum of 3-years of forecasting experience in support of DOD, AF, Navy, Marines, or Army operations
* Minimum of 2 years experience in the operation and interpretation of NEXRAD and associated products
* Minimum of 2 years of manual observing experience
* Ability to operate meteorological and communications equipment (N-TFS, OPUP, FMQ-19)
* Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

In addition to base pay, Night differential is also included.
