Engineer - Process Safety Management

MosaicThe Mosaic Company, a $7 billion publicly held company headquartered in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, is seeking an Engineer  – Process Safety Mgmt for our Louisiana Operations. The successful candidate will monitor plant performance, identify gaps in performance and making recommendations, and provide solutions in the areas of plant production, plant yields, asset utilization and product quality.This individual will also develop and coordinate documentation, communication, scheduling, and oversight needed to meet OSHA regulations of the Mosaic Process Safety Management (PSM)/Risk Management Plan (RMP) Program Standards.  The succesfull candidate will lead the facilities’ Process Safety Steering Committee (PSSC) under the direction of the Facility Manager.  Principal Accountabilities:Interfaces with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Training, and Engineering to ensure that required 14 elements of Process Safety Management regulation (CFR 1910.119) are in compliance.  Maintains Process Safety Libraries. Ensures all electronically formatted PSM/RMP documentation is stored on the Mosaic Document Management System and aligns with bill of material information in work order system. Works with Mosaic’s Process Safety Steering Committee to develop implementation plans to meet OSHA/EPA PSM/RMP Program Standards.  Ensures all changes to covered processes are controlled through Management Of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Review procedures; adequate front end engineering is performed for all proposed changes; potentially catastrophic incidents are investigated; and Process Hazard Analysis methodology is appropriate for the complexity of the process being evaluated.  Acts as Process Hazard Analysis team leader when appropriate.  Plans, schedules and facilitates Process Safety Steering Committee (PSSC) meetings at each facility. Communicates critical performance information to management relating to PSM and RMP deadlines.  Facilitates the flow of PSM/RMP information between operations, maintenance, engineering, safety, training, and environmental groups.  Consults with employees and their representatives on the conduct and development of process safety management program elements at each facility.  Ensures that employees and their representative’s have access to information required under the PSM/RMP regulations. Develops schedules for Process Hazard Analysis revalidations, operator training, maintenance training, operating procedure certifications, and maintenance procedure certifications for each facility.  Conducts Process Hazard Analysis as necessary. Captures documentation for Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance, Emergency Action Plans, Process Hazard Analysis, Operating Procedures, Operator and Maintenance Training, Safety Procedures, and Contractors to assure compliance with the Mosaic PSM/RMP Program Standards for each facility.   This position is covered by Mosaic’s Employee Dispute Resolution (EDR) program.Mosaic is an Equal Opportunity Employer Required Education, Experience, Skills:Minimum of 3+ years experience in engineering or an operations supervisory role with working knowledge of a Process Safety Management covered process and OSHA PSM regulatory standards and requirements.  Experience in ammonia & sulfuric acid processing systems a plus. Ability to interface with all levels of management. Ability to read and understand process & information diagrams (P&ID’s).  Must demonstrate ability to influence others; requires strong leadership qualities. Mechanical aptitude desired. Must set goals, priorities, and schedules to accomplish tasks. Demonstrates superior oral & written communication skills. Fosters cooperation & collaboration among different functional work groups. Must be detailed oriented & self motivated. Must have excellent organizational skills.  Requires process and mechanical body of knowledge and knowledge of the PSM covered process.  Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
