FACILITIES & SAFETY LEAD

Monsanto, a Fortune 500 company, is an Ag industry leader creating scientific breakthroughs around the world and we seek a FACILITIES & SAFETY LEAD at our Vassar Street building in Cambridge, MA. In this role the candidate will be responsible for daily operation of our facility and will coordinate contractors, oversee repair and maintenance of building equipment and systems, Security, oversee shipping and receiving and selected procurement activities. The candidate will administer the site Safety program and will ensure that all Monsanto Safety Standards are followed and all ES&H requirements for the site are addressed. In this capacity this candidate will be responsible for safety training and will work with site committees, safety functions and the cross-site Biotech Safety Lead Team. Additionally, the candidate will interact with research scientists on equipment procurement, installation, and maintenance and will evaluate and manage space requirements. The candidate will also supervise the mechanic responsible for light maintenance and shipping and receiving and the media technician who will be hired at a later date. This role will continue to work with support from the Mystic, CT site as well.The successful candidate will possess a Degree in a scientific / technical field or in Environmental, Safety & Health. 3+ years of experience managing scientific facilities, with 2+ years experience in ES&H. Experience implementing OSHA regulations is a must. The successful applicant must also have strong computer skills and excellent verbal and written communications skills in addition to the ability to develop relationships and networks with other professionals at locations across Monsanto. The ability to interact with and influence a diverse network of stakeholders including ES&H staff, leadership, and site personnel is a must. Laboratory experience and laboratory safety leadership are highly desirable. Knowledge and experience with environmental regulations and permitting is a plus.
