Fuel Ethanol Industry - Enzyme Technical Service Manager

 

Role Purpose –

 

The Fuel Ethanol Industry - Enzyme Technical Service Representative/Manager will be responsible managing and executing plant trials, including planning and support activities for all commercial trial activities. In addition, this position will support the technical needs of customers ensuring that they understand and evaluate/use corn-expressed enzymes effectively. The candidate will plan and execute evaluations of corn amylase by leading in a cross functional environment. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, internal stakeholders, and operational teams is a high priority.

 

Accountabilities –

 Responsible for planning, leading, executing, and communicating about plant trials for novel plant expressed enzymes Responsible for presenting technical information to prospective customers.Responsible for helping prospective customers effectively use crop expressed enzymes.Responsible for timely responses to external and internal customers.

· Responsible for managing the collection, organization and analysis of data from bench-scale to industry scale trials.Responsible for presenting technical information in a non-technical manner to facilitate understanding at all levels of the customer’s organization.

 

 

 

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

 

Critical knowledge:

 Minimum of B.S. degree in a hard science or engineeringIdeal candidate would have a degree in chemical or process engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, or fermentation science.  Other science or engineering degrees would be acceptable given sufficient experienceExtensive knowledge of and hands-on experience in the dry grind ethanol industryPlant engineering knowledge is a big plus

 

Critical experience:

 Held positions within technical services, production or research for the dry mill ethanol industryA minimum of 3-5 years of appropriate experience is necessary to adequately service this industryCandidates should have experience analyzing processes to determine proper application conditions for enzyme use in the dry mill ethanol industry

 

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

 Candidate must have proven ability to effectively lead a team of technical professionals at customer production sites.Ideal candidate is an outgoing person with excellent communication skills who can balance the need for technical expertise and customer relationsCandidate must be able to interact with all levels of plant personnel and effectively communicate technical matters, which can be understood and acted upon.

· Successful candidate must work independently with minimal direct supervisionCandidate must be able to educate plant personnel in enzyme utilization and be willing and able to tell customer what they are doing wrong relative to enzyme use.Candidate must be creative and tailor approach to fit the individual customerCandidate will need to have a high level of attention to detail and the ability to transmit this detail to the customer and the internal team verbally and in writingCandidate must be able to resolve customer issues/concerns in an expeditious manner with high customer satisfactionCandidate must exhibit mature and independent judgment and be highly responsive to the needs of the customerCandidate will be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of external and internal customersCandidate will act as a liaison with customers to help them improve their enzyme utilization

 

Critical leadership capabilities:

 The ability to gain a high level of technical expertise in this industry within a short time span is necessaryCandidate must be very timely in his/her interaction with the customer and company on all matters pertaining to technical service or sales issuesAttention to detail is very important and the ability to gain the trust of the customer is vital
