Job Description Summary:

This management position plays a leadership role for all employees of Jensen Corporation and Jensen Landscape and Construction Company.  S/He must command respect from all employees, subcontractors, suppliers, customers and fellow managers.  S/He must pro-actively guide employees toward key operational objectives and set the standard through her/his positive actions. Responsible for the supervision and management of all superintendents and field staff within Jensen’s construction divisions. Interface with project managers and support team to complete all projects within the required specifications, schedule and budget. Some of the essential functions of this position follow.  These functions are essential but are not limited in scope.  It is required that the general superintendent be flexible in scope and time. 

 

Essential Functions:

· Manages direct reports in his or her day-to-day operations, performs initial and ongoing training, conducts annual performance reviews, carries out his or her responsibilities in their absence and facilitates department meetings.

· Ensures that all construction work performed is of the highest quality.

· Depending on workload, act as superintendent on needed projects.

· Evaluates subcontractors.

· Monitors, assists and critiques all job schedules.

· Facilitates in all start up and closeout meetings and participates as necessary.

· Reviews and monitors procedures to mobilize and de-mobilize.

· Schedules and tracks field employees (superintendents, foremen, carpenters and laborers).

· Provides feedback annually on all superintendents and staff.

· Conducts monthly Superintendent meetings to review Job Performance Reports and Aging Reports.

· Conducts weekly Superintendent meetings to schedule and monitor use of company resources.

· Conducts quarterly Foreman’s meetings.

· Develop and implement a training program for superintendents, foremen and laborers. Prepares quarterly report for Leadership Team.

· Prepares monthly job status report for Vice President of Operations.

· Reviews, critiques and disburses all weekly paperwork.

· Assists and supports all safety requirements.

· Attends safety and OSHA classes as required by Safety Officer.

· Assists with safety inspections and provide written documentation as required.

· Reviews drawings, specifications and owner requirements with Superintendent.

· Approvals of all field timecards, cellular phone charges, and employee reimbursements.

· Participates in bid process when available.

· Assists with superintendents, project managers, and estimators on scopes of work.

· Participates in client interviews.

· Reviews and sign-off of final punch list.

· Attends weekly jobsite construction meetings to support staff as needed.

· Monitors submittals with Superintendent.

· Monitors schedule with Superintendent on job site visit.

· Monitors, evaluates and implements new systems and procedures regarding field personnel.

· Monitors general condition costs.

· Provides assistance to project managers and superintendents with subcontractors who may not be performing.

· Responsible for coordinating with accounting for timely monthly billings.

· Responsible for providing timely billing and backlog information for the updating of the backlog report.

· Responsible for reviewing billings with superintendents to ensure the maximum allowance is billed.

· Responsible for reviewing time and material billings and changes to ensure Jensen procures required paperwork required to keep crews working and maintain project schedule.

· Manages man power and equipment maximize productivity of division as a whole and increase profitability.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

§ Bachelor's Degree horticulture or a related field.

§ Minimum of three years experience in project management and construction job management

§ Construction landscape services experience preferred.

§ General plant, irrigation, construction, and drainage knowledge.

§ General knowledge of material and labor costs.

§ Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.

§ Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

§ Ability to prioritize job responsibilities. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
