ADM is a global leader in animal feeds, and offers a vast number of products for livestock, poultry, pet and specialty species. ADM Alliance Nutrition consists of 40 U.S. locations, as well as locations in Canada, China, Trinidad and Puerto Rico. The Human Resources Manager will support the colleagues and managers of the U.S. locations, utilizing a broad spectrum of human resources skills. This cohesive group accepts change and challenge while expecting innovation. The unique opportunity for this individual will be in serving the colleagues as well as being an integral part of the ADM Alliance Nutrition leadership team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct human resources activities in accordance with the strategic goals of ADM and the 1,500 employee ADM Alliance Nutrition division.
- Implement, coordinate and evaluate programs and projects of significance to the organization including human resource planning, job analysis, recruiting, interviewing, selection, orientation, performance management, as well as training and development.
- Provide direction, support and training to all departments in the implementation and evaluation of performance evaluations to ensure colleague development.
- Continue to foster the environment of opportunities for colleagues to grow into different roles within the division while ensuring the best talent in each role.
- Evaluate ideas and suggestions for new or existing projects by acting as liaison with all departments as required.
- Report project status and results to senior management on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with managers by meeting with them to understand their needs and the issues which arise.
- Visit plants and offices to become aware of the manufacturing process, work environment and local issues.
- Support managers by recruiting world-class talent for current open positions and by building a database of potential colleagues for future opportunities.
- Manage college recruiting efforts for the ADM Alliance Nutrition division. Coordinate the internship program to align ADM Alliance Nutrition with ADM’s summer intern program. Work to ensure integration of a pipeline of students today and, for the long-term value, tomorrow. Build university relationships with faculty, career center professionals and students, providing information about our global company and career opportunities.
- Provide current and prospective employees with appropriate information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Stay abreast of new policies, programs and procedures for implementation at ADM Alliance Nutrition by maintaining contact with ADM Corporate departments, including Human Resources and Corporate Affairs.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications department to ensure alignment with the Company’s internal and external focus and direction.
- Deliver training of ADM ethics and performance management programs.
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understanding, refereeing disputes, firing employees and administering disciplinary procedures.
- Develop a strong working relationship with a wide range of individuals outside the organization; create and maintain relationships with strategic alliance partners (e.g., National FFA Convention); attend functions as needed to maintain and grow relationships.
- Manage existing community outreach programs including local school mentoring program.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field is required.
- Thorough knowledge of human resources, including training and development, recruiting, interviewing, and selection.
- Project management and planning experience.
- Success in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to interpret business and operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutions.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional delivery of customer service, including customer needs assessment and meeting standards for services.
- Successfully relate to and work with a diverse workforce in a variety of positions, including interns, operators, managers and senior management.
- Be a self-starter.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Become certified to train and support the ADM performance management program.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and apply software applications efficiently to accomplish functions of the job.
- Successful candidate must be able to clearly communicate with others over the telephone and in person, sit and stand for prolonged periods, as well as work at a computer and keyboard.
- Position will require 10 – 20 % overnight travel.
PREFERENCES
- Applicable work experience.
- Graduate degree and/or applicable work experience preferred.
- Professional of Human Resources (PHR®) or Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR®) certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification.
- Applicable knowledge and prior work experience with applicant tracking system, especially Vurv.
- Proficiency in MS Access.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Human Resources Manager will report directly to the President of ADM Alliance Nutrition.
