MAJOR OBJECTIVES:
The Wauconda Human Resources Coordinator (bilingual) position is responsible for the support of the Wauconda based personnel in the areas of recruiting hourly personnel, assisting with facility-based human resources administration, safety program training and administration, event planning, and accident investigation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION:
§ Recruit and hire qualified laborers and leadmen for both the landscape and snow removal seasons complete the necessary paperwork and enter it into the payroll/human resources information system. Hire Foremen for your facility in conjunction with the Production Manager. Hire interns and work study hourly employees, and manage temporary staffing for field positions in conjunction with production managers and union requirements.
§ Hourly employee management: new hire, H-2B employee, and return from layoff orientations, spring hourly review processing, exit interviews, return from layoff processing, new hires to the equipment used on the job during the hiring process as time permits.
§ Maintain all employee files for your facility. Input miscellaneous employee information changes into the payroll/human resources information system.
§ Act as a liaison between the field staff and management including responding to miscellaneous questions/problems. Act as an independent third party in determining disciplinary consequences in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager.
§ Assist with benefit administration and miscellaneous human resources administration in your facility, i.e., complete vacation request forms, employee loan forms, change of address requests, insurance and 401k enrollment forms, and verifications of employment, etc.
§ Conduct field safety inspections weekly to ensure safe work habits, all equipment safeties and the appropriate personal protective equipment are being utilized. Train field staff as appropriate on safe work procedures. Follow up with the Manager if disciplinary action needs to be implemented.
§ Investigate accidents involving employees from your facility. Follow-up with the appropriate paperwork, disciplinary consequences, and drug screenings.
§ Conduct exit interviews with employees when they terminate.
§ Translate written documents (English/Spanish) and interpret for Spanish speaking personnel and applicants as needed. Interpret for meetings as needed.
§ Assist in the organization and implementation of company parties, new employee orientation programs, training programs, etc.. Make training topic suggestions.
§ Assist in the administration of all incentive programs for your facility.
§ Assist in the administration and communication of company policies and procedures.
§ Transport injured workers to medical facilities, interpret and provide case management as required. Complete a written report after each doctor's visit.
§ Participate on the safety committee and other committees as required.
§ Assist in the development and administration of tailgate safety talks on a monthly basis.
§ Schedule drivers as necessary for random DOT drug screens.
§ Distribute uniforms in your facility, and accurately track all uniform distribution.
§ Manage the annual fire extinguisher re-certification for the facility
§ Execute general office duties including making copies, sending faxes, filing, etc.
§ Perform quality work that is consistent with Acres professional quality standards, including attending to the details.
§ Proactively anticipate problems, and suggest solutions in order to avoid employee and customer complaints.
§ Use independent judgment to develop creative solutions to problems that arise on the job.
§ Establish and maintain a good working relationship with your manager, other staff members and the field personnel.
§ Plan weekly and daily activities in advance to ensure efficient time use and positive end results.
REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
§ Ability to read, write and speak both English and Spanish.
§ The proven ability to service all levels within an organization, including both office and field employees, with a positive attitude as well as the ability to handle highly sensitive data in an appropriate manner.
§ The ability to gain general employee and management support for ideas in order to successfully implement projects.
§ The ability to effectively initiate, pursue and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
§ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
§ Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
§ Strong administrative skills and experience.
PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION:
§ Previous experience supporting a Hispanic employee population.
• One to three years experience in Human Resources or a similar support position.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Computer and accounting abilities very helpful
