New Product Development Manager

Sandvik Mining and Construction is the world's leading supplier of drilling excavation machinery, equipment and tools for mining and construction industries, is currently looking for a New Product Development Manager to be based out of the Alachua, FL location. This incredible opportunity will allow this individual to deliver active projects and develop future plans for projects as defined by our strategy. This position will report directly to the President, and has management responsibility for the R & D staff and designated project members.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

In this key role, the New Product Development Manager is responsible to plan, schedule and manage all new product development projects through a cross function, multi-location (Alachua and Bangalore) environment.The outcome will be heavy mining equipment based on new mechanical-, hydraulic-, and control systems. This position will accomplish the above by managing R&D staff and coordinate with other departments. The R & D Lead Engineer also interacts heavily with R & D resources at overseas locations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Create original project plans for product development to define cost, resource and time requirements. This includes detailed specifications to outsource elements of the overall engineering development. Maintain and update plans in accordance with Steering Committee approvals.

• Monitor and follow up on project progress sufficient to ensure project scope is maintained as agreed. Suggest and implement corrective actions as needed.

• Lead R & D staff including coaching, competence development, and work distribution. Secure involvement and buy-in of key stakeholders to ensure project success. This includes meeting the objectives of sales, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, service and cost control.

• Identify and utilize necessary specialized expertise and core competencies, both internally and externally for successful project completion.

• Keep Steering Committee abreast of project development status and key decisions in project scope and deliverables.

• Support planning, assembly, and testing instructions for prototype development.

• Create complete engineering documentation to support purchasing, outsourcing, production planning, and technical publications to sustain manufacturing requirements in Alachua or elsewhere.

YOUR PROFILE

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; an MBA or Masters in a business discipline is highly preferred. This candidate should have at least 5 years of experience working in an industrial environment, with demonstrated success in project management and experience leading teams in a global and culturally diverse setting. Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language.
