Architect - Project Manager

Our services include architecture, interior design, and planning for a wide variety of sectors. Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of assigned projects. Sets goals with the Sector Leader. Meets financial goals of projects. Ensures design quality of projects. Ensures documentation of project work is of highest quality and completeness. Maintains existing client relationships, developing repeat business whenever possible. Supervises personnel regarding project work. Participates in activities to improve the architectural practice. • Maintains day-to-day working relationship with client representative. • Meets or exceeds client objectives for project quality as well as cost and schedule control. Meets deadlines and program and budget requirements. • Meets or exceeds profitability goals established on projects. Responsible fro establishing and monitoring project budgets. Interface with accounting, reviewing project reporting, budget items, consultant invoicing and other project financial tasks.• Works with the Studio Director as required to discuss potential project problems and to determine corrective action. Provides Sector Leader with periodic status reports of project status on additional services and work authorizations based on current project plans. • Effectively staffs those individuals under his/her direction. Provides timely and accurate staffing information to Sector Leader. • Ensures that all project personnel are informed regarding their personal responsibilities on a project as well as the overall project goals pertaining to their involvement.• Ensures that all documents conform to established policy and procedure and are complete and correct. • Determines the appropriate utilization of technical systems on projects including CADD, personal computers, and reprographic technology in conjunction with the Information Systems Manager where required. • Use personal computers for word processing, spreadsheets and database work. Directs the use of CADD and other automated systems such as Revet or BIM. • Directs and leads the staff to examine new alternatives whether in the production of documents and/or the technical aspects of building systems. • Assures that proper project set up and close out, database entries and archiving procedures are completed. • Participates in regularly scheduled design reviews. • Schedules regular project team meetings. These meetings will occur at project kick-off and the beginning/ending of each phase. • Organizes and oversees project quality control program. Schedules and monitors work of reviewing staff. Qualifications: California architectural license strongly encouraged (and other states where project work may be located). Graduate of an accredited architectural, interior design or planning school with a minimum of 10 years diverse experience with an increasing level of responsibility in an architectural, interior design or planning office. In lieu of a degree in architecture, interior design or planning, a minimum of 15 years experience in architecture, interior design or planning required. Academic training in architecture, interior design or planning may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Extensive experience in all phases of project management, including substantial and varied experience involving responsible programming, planning and design and management of complex projects. Extensive experience in all phases of construction contract administration, including field experience, planning and producing contract documents including furnishing and furnishing specifications. Extensive experience in coordinating all technical resources. Thorough knowledge of architectural practice; building technology, building codes, office standards, policies and procedures; and principles and techniques of personnel supervision and management.
