AutoCAD Manager

The Knoxville, TN regional office of a National environmental and engineering services firm is looking for a hands-on and enthusiastic Manager of their AutoCAD department, preferably with an HVAC background. This individual will be responsible for the further development and implementation of the AutoCAD department electronic standards (in conjunction with input from senior engineers). Individual should be up-to-date with "production-level" AutoCAD standards and norms as practiced in the A-E and Consulting Engineer businesses. Individual should be familiar with the RIVET or other building information modeling (BIM) software standards and application of these standards. Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards is a plus. Individual will be responsible for the development of the AutoCAD department which will initially center upon the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical disciplines with the opportunity to expand into other areas. Position will include staffing level management and involve responsibility for advertising, interviewing, selecting, and/or training individuals to add to the staff and meet company requirements. It is possible that this position could grow into managing individual or departments located in other GMI office or client locations. Individual will be expected to perform AutoCAD design work as required to meet schedules if staffing levels are insufficient to meet demand.


Requirements

It is preferable that the AutoCAD manager have 10+ years experience in HVAC systems design and layout. Applicant's HVAC design experience should include duct work sizing and layout, chilled and hot water piping sizing and layout, mechanical equipment room layouts, equipment schedules, duct and piping details, and control diagrams.
