Invest in you! Develop comprehensive and complex environmental analyses to assist with the implementation of the UBOC Environmental Policy and Program.  Prepare complex analytical reports and financial statements for presentation to the Bank Environmental Advisory Committee, CEO Forum and Public Policy Committee.  Conduct and direct highly technical environmental-based research and analysis projects. Make presentations to management.  Responsibilities include: Administer and use of Foundation environmental budget; Assess the UBOC carbon footprint, commencing with phased approach toward remediation; Develop and implement an operating plan for the UBOC environmental policy and program; Establish performance metrics for future environmental performance; Monitor and evaluate state and federal legislation for significant impacts to the Bank or its customers; Monitor and evaluate state and federal regulatory programs and trends for significant impacts to the Bank or its customers; Research, evaluate and recommend key elements of environmental programs at other major corporations; Serve as staff to the Bank Environmental Advisory Committee (BEAC); Prepare quarterly reports to the Public Policy Committee, the UBOC Community Advisory Board, the BEAC and executive management of the Bank; Coordinate efforts through other key UBOC officers; Development of an annual operating budget; Evaluate and recommend government programs that provide financial incentives to the Bank; Identify significant organizations that advocate “green” policy initiatives and evaluate various initiatives with application to UBOC; Assess the benefits of achieving LEED status and make recommendations.  Preferred location for this position is San Diego but there is flexibility for Los Angeles and San Francisco.Typically requires 5+ years of experience as an environment specialist.  Requires the ability to develop and design complex spreadsheets, databases, or report formats (based on a business need) to be used by others; Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.  Must have the ability to meet with external audiences and tell the UBOC environmental story.  Must possess ability to bring consensus to difficult decisions regarding the balance between UBOC business interest and the environmental movement.  Knowledge of the banking industry is an asset.  Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
