Ecological Restoration Staff Engineer

Overview: Stantec, a full-service environmental services firm, is seeking a talented consultant with a background in engineering to join our Environmental Management Group in the Northeast US. We would like to hire a civil/environmental engineer to augment our current staff of professional specialists in surface water hydrology and hydraulics, wetland science, habitat restoration, wildlife and fisheries biology, and regulatory permitting with staff who are capable of developing and implementing projects involving freshwater and estuarine restoration. Our Environmental Management Group is dedicated to managing environmental issues proactively and professionally, and we focus on hiring exceptionally talented, enthusiastic, and hard working individuals who have a keen interest in the natural sciences and working in a team based environment. Current project work in our Environmental Management engineering group includes dam removal and fish passage studies, mitigation of tidal restrictions, and riverine and estuarine hydraulic analyses. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities of this position include performing hydrologic, hydraulic and geomorphic studies of riverine and estuarine systems. Applicants for this position must be able to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and should be familiar with relevant software, such as TR-20, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS. Excellent candidates will have experience with multidimensional hydraulic software, such as RMA2 or River2D. Additional responsibilities may include project management, contingent upon candidate experience. Qualifications: This position requires a BS or MS degree in civil or environmental engineering with 0-5 years of experience. A firm grasp of mathematics and engineering mechanics. Relevant experience in surface water hydrology and hydraulics is preferred but is not required.
