Overview: Our San Francisco office is seeking an Electrical Engineer experienced in the design of electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, security control, and communications systems. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to produce construction plans, specifications, and related reports and calculations. In addition, you will be responsible for processing construction submittals and RFIs and conducting construction observation; design systems for electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, instrumentation and controls; communications; computer networks and security; perform voltage drop, short circuit illumination level, and load calculations; tailor Stantec's master specifications to meet the requirements of each job; conduct site visits to record existing conditions and meet with clients to determine specific job requirements; perform plan checking when necessary; write construction cost estimates; and perform submittal reviews. Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma - Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power circuits, device electronics, and engineering systems analysis with 5 to 10 years of electrical design experience including power, lighting and specialty systems design. • Excellent interpersonal skills with team members and clients. • Effective team player that demonstrates mature judgment and possesses a positive, team oriented attitude. • The ability to mange and expedite multiple priorities. • Experience in creating bid document packages including drawings and specifications. • Experience with power, lighting, fire alarm and communications. • Preparation of lighting calculations. Experience:Individuals should have 5-10 years experience designing electrical systems for healthcare, commercial, industrial, federal and state governmental facilities, institutional, educational or similar applications and be experienced in creating complete drawings for these types of projects. Emphasis is on power, lighting and control systems expertise. Specialty applications include low energy lighting and controls, photovoltaic systems, on-site power generation, and a knowledge of LEED and sustainable building/site design. Design experience should the following system types: low and medium voltage power distribution, office lighting, low and high bay industrial lighting, park/sports/area lighting, commercial fire alarm, industrial life safety, PLC based process distributed control, standby and emergency power generations, lighting protection and isolated grounding. Familiarity with Dapper and Captor is highly desirable. Experienced preferred in field verification of construction and construction cost estimating. Location: San Francisco office.
