Position Title:  Engineering Analyst II

Department:  Information Systems/Technical Systems

Location:  Eufaula, AL or Columbus, GA*

*The Columbus, GA location is considered remote from main body of the development group and will only be considered as a potential alternative location if warranted by candidate's experience level and demostrated to work independently.  This will be negotiated at hiring and after a mandatory 6 month introductory venue situated at the Eufaula, AL location.

Report To:  Supervisor of Technical Systems

Position Description:  This individual develops and maintains portions of serveral proprietary small and large-scale computer applications that perform the analysis and design of structural steel during the estimating and order processing phases of projects specific to the pre-engineered metal building and retrofit roofing industries.  This position involves the assessment and negotiation of software functionality enhancements; the architecting and coding of solutions; unit testing of developed code; and the documentation regarding usage and capabilities of the delivered application solutions.  The developer will participate as a member of a larger team that includes other engineering specialists and other computer scientists who jointly collaborate in the development of the deliverable software usig the Microsoft C++ programming language and other development tools that formalize and coordinate the software configuration and change management processes.

Experience Qualifications (experienced candidates):

Several years experience in the similar development of structural engineering software for any other pre-engineered metal building company using either the FORTRAN or C/C++ or similar programming languages.  A familiarity with the AISC (structural steel) and AISI (cold-formed steel) design specifications is essential.

Experience Qualifications (for entry level candidates):

A few years practical steel design engineering experience is considered extremely desirable.  However, a degreed engineer with a familiarity of AISC steel design and AISI cold-formed steel design practices and U.S. model building codes will also be seriously considered.  A working knowledge of at least one scientific computer programming language (FORTRAN, BASIC, PASCAL, C or C++, etc.) and basic software development practices is essential.

Educational Background:

An adequatae background and understanding of structural analysis and design concepts and procedures is absolutely essential.  Consequently, a bachelor's degree in either civil (BSCE) or mechancial (BSME) engineering from an accredited university is mandatory.
