RequirementsBachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate required.PE licensed preferred.2-5 years of experience required.

 

Core ResponsibilitiesPerform calculations in accordance with building codes and company standards. Develop designs and sketches to be developed into completed documents. Follow applicable guidelines for project standards as described in the Manual. Complete assignments efficiently in a timely and complete manner as required by the Project and/or Supervisor. Have knowledge and understanding of Architectural and Engineering codes including UBC, IBC, and ACI.  Review designs and documents for code compliance. Continue education to improve technical knowledge and skills through outside and in-house programs, seminars, training sessions, site visits, trade periodicals and other resources. Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards. Assist the Project Manager with statement of probable construction costs. Assist the Project Manager with shop drawing review and distribution. Keep the Project Manager informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services.

 

Additional ResponsibilitiesDesign and detail structural members based on the recommendations by the Project Manager.Assist the Project Manager with the construction administration phase including: on-site construction visits and progress reviews, responding to construction questions, attending progress meetings, coordinating and completing bulletin documents, shop drawing review and distribution and preparing punch lists.Provide drawings of own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in the drawings.Assists the Project Manager with developing and monitoring for team:  project scope description, man-hour calculations, project schedule, and statement of probable construction costs.Assist the Project Manager with project design including site development, plan layout, construction detailing, material selection and elevation development.

 

SkillsExcellent communication, both verbal and written.Time management.Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.Experience with engineering software programs ETABS, SAFE, and SAP preferred.AutoCAD proficiency preferred.
