Position Description:  Estimator

We are currently looking for a Commercial/Residential Estimator to join the estimating team at our Corporate Office in Kent, OH. 

 

Position Overview:
An estimator performs material take-offs on residential and commercial buildings as well as, provides support to the field regarding all aspects of estimating.  This position requires accurate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the building construction industry.

Being part of the Carter Lumber team means that you will:Perform material take-offs from a variety of blueprints in a timely manner in a corporate office settingReview construction documents and understand material to bidReview and fix potential inaccuracies in material listsWork closely with outside sales representatives and managers from our retail locationsFollow up with the status of take-offs

Requirements to join the Carter Lumber team:An understanding of residential and commercial building componentsCompetency in basic mathematics, geometry and trigonometry3+ years experience in residential or light commercial construction or 2 years in estimatingStrong organization and time management skillsEffective oral and written communication skillsWorking knowledge of Professional Estimating software desirableWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
