Candidate would be responsible for preparing basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles, including the following: subsurface investigations; assign and review laboratory tests; prepare geotechnical engineering design calculations; prepare geotechnical design reports; prepare geotechnical construction specifications and conduct inspections; geotechnical analysis of foundations, dams, and earth retaining structures; perform slope stability, seepage, settlement and other miscellaneous geotechnical calculations for various projects; perform foundation design for shallow and deep foundations; plan and direct subsurface investigations;  design foundation systems, dams, and earth retaining structures; inspect and monitor foundation construction activities to ensure conformance with engineering and design specifications and standards; investigate and evaluate ground movements and subsequent response of structures using both semi-empirical and numerical methods; incorporate more advanced and sophisticated numerical computer codes to the design and analysis process. QualificationsMS or BS in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (with focus on geotechnical engineering studies) plus six to 12 years related experience; must have experience in or knowledge of: 1) numerical approaches to the analysis of geotechnical problems; 2) ground movements and ground - structure interaction problems; 3) geology, and soil and rock mechanics; modeling for finite elements, earth dams, seepage analysis; earth pressure theory; deep foundation designs; 4) experience in preparation and performance of field geotechnical explorations and laboratory test programs.   Desired, but not required: 1) construction experience; 2) seepage.
