Job Purpose:
Produces designs by understanding function of the design and design characteristics; planning design concept; developing, illustrating, and revising design; mentoring team members.
Duties:
* Enhances design team accomplishments and competence by planning completion of design projects; answering technical and procedural questions for less-experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members.
* Plans design assignment by studying client's request; understanding function of the design; preparing budgets.
* Plans design concept by researching and analyzing desired design characteristics, such as, size, shape, weight, color, materials, ease of use, fit, cost, and safety; revising budget and obtaining approval to proceed.
* Develops design by defining form, features, and attraction; exploring alternative designs; revising designs.
* Illustrates design by preparing sketches by hand or by computer; constructing models.
* Obtains approval of design by presenting and explaining sketches and models.
* Prepares finished design by incorporating client revisions; creating detailed designs using drawings, models, computer simulations, or full-scale prototypes.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
* Writes specifications as required for project.
* Trains, mentors and develop jr. designers by setting an example.
Minimum Job Requirement:
Requires 8-10 years knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts
Expert knowledge of multiple design brands standards
Requires a Bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 8-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Expert knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within industry
8-10 years Auto CAD experience
8-10 years Photo Shop experience
Requires NCIDQ license
Expert knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Requires 35% international travel, including over night and extended stay
Requires 25% US travel, including over night and extended stay
