Manager of Construction Administration

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 8 years related experience, or an Associate degree with 10 years related experience. Extensive knowledge of construction including methods, types of material, code compliance, inspection standards, etc. as well as front-end of specifications and Owner / Architect contracts and Owner / CM Agreements. Ability to communicate effectively and interact successfully with all levels of staff. Ability to synthesize team ideas and contributions. Ability to plan, organize and implement with successful and timely results. Facility for written and oral communication. Proficiency in computer use. Open to change, receptive to new ideas and concepts.Must be able to, and will be required to, perform the details of Construction Administrator. Will be responsible for the direction, coordination and supervision of the Construction Administration Department across all geographic offices (Syracuse, Ithaca, Rochester, Albany), including the implementation of policies and coordination of staff to ensure a consistency in performance throughout the department. General Responsibilities include: Use established and current firm tools for project cost/revenue projections Collaborate with Project Managers to jointly determine appropriate construction service efforts Prepare short and long term forecasts to determine immediate and future staffing needs Support interdepartmental coordination and cooperation Establish and maintain Department-wide policies, procedures, training, and performance standards to ensure consistency throughout the multi-office department Establish and monitor annual department budgets Responsible for administration of office technical procedures and implementation of established guidelines Confer and correspond with clients, agencies, contractors and construction managers on behalf of the project or the department’s activities Preserve quality assurance of the department efforts Personal Responsibilities include: Supervise personnel and activities of department Assignment of department staff to various projects, working with Project Managers to ensure that CA assignments are made (and utilized) early in the project Ensure that the department employees are meeting expectations Monitor staff time sheets, travel and expenses Complete probationary and annual evaluations of department personnel Provide staff development for department personnel Recruit new personnel (in conjunction with the Human Resources Department) Interview prospective employees (in conjunction with the Human Resources Department) Make recommendations considering promotion and termination of department employees Other management duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises all construction administrators firm-wide and works with appropriate regional office leadership on personnel recruitment and day-to-day supervision of staff not located in Manager’s home location. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office environment, however, it is expected that the individual will be traveling to and working at off-site locations inculding other offices.  Locations: Based in Ithaca or Rochester.Travel includes, but not limited to, Ithaca, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany.   EOE W/M/V/D
