Payroll Manager - Shared Services

Established organization in the Atlanta area is looking for a progressive and innovative Payroll Manager for a new Shared Service division.This manager will have experience demonstrating success in evaluating, selecting and implementing new payroll software. Qualified candidates should be experienced in managing a full cycle payroll department, processing for over 5,000+ employees.Must be able to establish and maintain solid positive relationships with Sr. Managers and field staff.  Will supervise in house payroll staff with possibilities of supervising staff in remote locations. Multi state and multi location payroll experience a must. Excellent leadership skills required for this role as well.  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES§ Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing daily activities of the payroll department; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.§ Directly reviews and monitors efforts and initiatives carried out by direct reports.§ Responsible for evaluating the performance, professional development and discipline of direct reports. REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCERequired Skills/Knowledge:§ Bachelor degree, with accounting discipline, or equitable combination of training, experience and education.  CPP certification helpful.§ Experience managing a service oriented payroll team in a multi-location organization.§ Proven ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.§ Experience leading a payroll project implementation or equivalent experience.§ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.§ A manager who is an effective coach and mentor to their employees.§ Experience building relationships with key internal customers.§ Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide range of stakeholders  Built on more than 30 years of expertise, The Mergis Group is a specialty recruiting firm committed to helping professionals make the best career choices.
