Project Accounting Analyst

The Company:

Dorsky Hodgson Parrish Yue (DHPY) is a national architectural firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.  As DHPY has grown, we have focused our expertise in three areas of design – Retail/Commercial, Residential, and Senior Living Communities – and recently we have been blending those three distinctly different building types into dynamic Mixed-Use environments.



This vibrant growth has caused DHPY to reassess its existing finance function.  As a result of this assessment, we are creating a new position within the Finance Department that is focused on providing a dedicated finance resource to the DHPY Business Unit Leaders and Senior Project Managers.


Reports To:

The Project Accounting Analyst reports to the Controller. 

 

Position Summary:



·  Responsible for establishing, maintaining and improving the project accounting function across all DHPY Business Units and coordination of project contract activity with the Corporate Finance Group

·  Assist Project Managers with creation of project budgets, updating of incurred costs, management of change orders, and performance of cost-to-complete calculations.

·  Analysis of incurred costs to identify cost coding errors, assist with determination of amounts to invoice, and research & explain variances of actual project costs vs. budget.

·  Responsible for ensuring all project accounting activities are completed in a timely manner to ensure the monthly financial close meets established internal reporting deadlines.

·  Preparation of monthly contract invoices and required supporting documentation.

·  Create and maintain supporting documentation for all DHPY project accounting and administration procedures

·  Other special projects, as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

·  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 3-5 years of experience.

·  Experience in the architectural, engineering or construction industry strongly preferred.

·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

·  Substantial experience with project accounting software, proficiency in Deltek Vision accounting software strongly preferred.

·  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·  Excellent time management and planning skills and proactive in day-to-day interactions.

·  Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively multi-task.

·  Client service focus in all activities.

·  Ability to travel, as needed.
