Senior Architect

Job Description/Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Architect with a minimum of 10 years experience. The ideal candidate is both technically proficient, design sensitive and has excellent organizational and communications skills. The Project Architect should possess the ability to work as an integral part of a project team, ensuring the translation of design intent into construction documentation. He/she will work in collaboration with the Project Manager and Senior Designer, assuming full responsibility for the technical coordination of a sizable project or one of unusual complexity.

Position Responsibilities (By Phase)

Design Development: Lead entire team in design phase of project on items relating to technology, code and government issues, constructability and practicality issues and client relations and contract requirements Assist design team in design development of project by bringing technical input to effort of achieving desired design. Coordinate issues with consultants. Verify area calculation Organize mock-up set of drawings and assign responsibilities to staff Champion the project's design intent by providing technical leadership through both design development and construction documentation to assure delivery of accurate, detailed, and coordinated project documentation. Direct design and coordinate technical documentation amongst disciplines and with sub-consultants. Delivering complete, accurate and coordinated project plans, specifications and construction documents within the time and budget parameters. Contract Documents: Lead team in execution of contract documents for project.Produce a construction document set for a sizable project that clearly defines design intent, is technically and legally sound, uses systems that are economically, technically and visually appropriate, is executed within the allotted time and schedule and is within the allotted fee and is as efficient in method of execution as possible Work with specification writer in producing technical specification sections.

Construction: Represent firm and lead the consultants in the coordination effort. Represent firm in field visitation, construction phase meetings. Visit site to observe construction. Review all submissions for technical competence, compliance with design intent, general coordination of other means of work and compliance with all applicable laws and ordinances

All Phases: Organize team technical effortFunction as co-equal with Project manger and Senior Designer.Provide clear instructions and guidance to team.Lead necessary systems research and development.Execute on-time specifications.Participate in professional development of staff and upgrading of office policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters in Architecture from an accredited institution 10 to 12 years of experience.Knowledge of codes and other government regulations, engineering systems, architectural systems, construction methods and costs and sequencesAutoCAD proficiencyExcellent verbal and written communication skills
