Senior Interior Designer

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for the supervision of the design team in the development of appropriate design solutions for a project or portion of a project. He/she will lead the project team in conjunction with the Project Manager and Technical Coordinator. He/She has to be able to work on multiple projects at the same time and will be managing 2 juniors designers. Responsibilities: Management through all phases-Assign tasks, supervise design team, project staff requirements during course of project, and review design task assignments with Project Principal. Also take necessary steps in conjunction with Project Manager to monitor schedule and periodically review with Project Principal to assure that deadlines are being met and that schedule and budgets are being adhered to. Programming- Implement programming approach as established by Project Principal and Programming Director, attend client meetings relating to program evaluation and implementation and prepare and supervise design analysis, recommendations and documentation for program. Interior Design- Develop and Design concept in conjunction with Project Principal. Attend client meetings for presentations and review of schematics. Prepare and supervise design development and manage and coordinate design input of project consultants. Monitor quality of design work produced to achieve highest level of excellence possible while producing work within allocated time and budget. Develop and supervise preparation of Design Presentation, FF& A selections, in accordance with the Project Principals standards. Ensure the design reflects the clients interests while adhering to the construction codes. Contract Documents-Develop and supervise preparations of furniture, finishes and equipment specifications. Monitor development of contract documents for design intent and thoroughly review prior to issue. Bidding and Negotiations- participate in review of bids and contract negotiations to ensure compliance with design intent. Approve alternative selections required because of budget constraints or building material unavailability. Contract Administration- Attend job meetings and inspect site for verification of design intent during project installation. Supervise installation of furniture, and other FF&A items. Shared responsibilities with the Project Manager include scheduling and budgets, monitoring of fee, maintenance of project schematic and design development manual, coordination of design and production, meetings with trades and contractors and day to day contact with clients

Qualifications: Degree in Architecture and/or Interior Design from an accredited institution. 10 or more years of professionally responsible experience, having developed an ability to reach appropriate independent design solutions and to lead team members in their cooperative efforts to achieve design objectives Demonstrated ability to manage the work of the design discipline by determining schedule, defining and delegating tasks, controlling the budget, anticipating problems and interfacing with clients. Demonstrated ability to present work and gain approval from existing and future clients Demonstrated ability to work with a team, develop the overall design concept, new products and details Demonstrated ability to work with design and technical team to produce a set of drawings Ability to work within appropriate building and local codes
