SOLIDWORKS DESIGN MANAGER

 

Description

 

Ensure the quality and completeness of designs and deliverables. Directly participate and lead critical projects. Directly manage staff designers.  He or she must have an outstanding understanding of manufacturing and production, based on an excellent proficiency in Solidworks

 

Job Functions:
* Develops and implements product design strategies and plans for all custom projects.  Project leadership, setting design direction and determining project priorities and direction.

* Ensures products designs meet and exceed client standards, meet deadlines and offer the highest possible level of innovation, esthetic appeal and user productivity.

* Responsible for interpreting and defining the design intent using Solidworks while working with mechanical engineering, manufacturing and tooling requirements

Relies on experience & judgment to plan & meet deadlines.
* Works closely with Design department and Production.



Specific Skills

AutoCAD and SolidWorks a must in order to develop detailed CAD design packages (3D data and 2D drawings)

Experience with architectural interior design is a plus.  Lighting experience a plus

Extensive knowledge of design, development, assembly procedures & materials, installation and monitoring of total systems throughout the manufacturing cycle.  Sustained attention to detail from concept to implementation.

Must have strong presentation skills and ability to communicate with both technical and non technical audiences with high impact.

Candidate should have an understanding of the production process for built environments, from design to manufacturing to installation

Must have experience designing parts for everything from one of a kind custom fabricated piece to high volume production.

Self motivated with high sense of professionalism and multi-tasking skills. Detail oriented.

Ability to lead and motivate a team

Articulated communication skills – both with the team and clients.

Spanish speaking bi-lingual a plus.

Ability to lead and provide solutions to complex interaction challenges
• Creative problem solving skills applied to design problems and process challenges
