Staff Architect
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
Experience: 3-10 years project experience (depending upon project size) or equivalent
Our Firm: HERA is a Laboratory Architecture firm specializing in the design of technical environments for; science teaching, research, vivaria, clinical services and forensic investigation.
Role: Communicates with Project Leader assigned to project or other designee relative to project status and performance; manages and makes decisions relative to HERA contract documents.

Responsibilities:
Assists Project Manager in the following activities
· Project planning, initiation, close-out:
a. Reviews and understands fees, hours and deliverables in SD, DD, CD and CA phases.
b. Communicates with consultants or prime design architect relative rto documents
c. Coordinates all documents and document issues.
d. Completes project archiving with assistance of team members
· Reviews the following with project leader
a. Fees and hours for SD, DD, and CD documentation and construction administration stages of project.
b. Project schedule, milestones, deliverables, meetings
Leads the production team in the following activities
· Leads project team in production of contract documents (DD & CD; some SD, which may be the designer)
a. Develops outline of documents required to comply with contract, including but not limited to document list (drawings and specifications), visual plan for organizing drawing set, incorporation of all components of drawings, (i.e., details, legends, notes, schedules, etc.)
b. Assigns tasks to production team; responsible for milestones and schedules.
c. Make decisions about drawings and details required to comply with contract
d. Reviews or produces specifications
e. Provides team technical review of documents or assigns as appropriate (QA/QC)
f. Reviews and identifies staffing requirements for production of CD’s
g. Provides direction for end product as consistent with contract requirements
· Leads project team in Construction Administration (CA) phase
a. Attends project meetings in documentation stages of project
b. Produces CA meeting minutes, if required by contract
c. Leads all activity of construction administration process, including preparation for and documentation of critical inspections and site reviews
a. Is the point person for all communication and activity with prime architect or contractor, including RFI’s, shop drawings, email and telecommunications, etc.
b. Provides leadership and decision making (in conjunction with project leader, relative to product quality and technology to assure consistency with contractual agreements
c. Participates with team members’ department supervisors in determining individual performance ratings
