The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently has an opening for an Accountant II its' corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

Department Description:
The Treasury Department includes five main focus areas:
1. Capital Markets
2. Global Financial Strategy, Creditor Relations, Cash Management, Foreign Exchange
3. Risk Management
4. Global Benefit Financing, Treasury Accounting
5. Investor Relations

This position is a part of the Global Benefit Financing, Treasury Accounting area, in which we:
* Account for 40 US benefits plans
* Oversee the investment of over $4 billion of worldwide pension assets to fulfill corporate fiduciary role
* Manage accounting and disclosure for over 80 pension and retiree medical plans worldwide
* Support portfolio and restructuring actions
* Support development of strategies to address legacy costs
* Manage treasury accounting and controls environment
* Maintain accounting records for benefit plans
* Manage Treasury SOX compliance

Primary Purpose of the Position:
Create and record recurring and manual journal entries. Update monthly trend analysis of benefit related accounts. Reconcile benefit accounts to general ledger on a monthly basis. Summarize in spreadsheet format medical related payments from third party vendors. Reconcile retiree medical expense and balance sheet accounts to actuarial valuations. Develop annual budgets for benefit related accounts. Allocate annual budgets among reporting divisions and plants.

Qualifications:
Required-
* Bachelor's or higher level degree in Business with major in Accounting or Finance
* 2 or more years experience in accounting related to reconciliations and journal entries
* Proven skills in improving processes and procedures
* Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
* Proven written and oral communication skills

Preferred-
* CPA, CMA, CEBS
* 2 or more years experience in budgeting benefit related costs and forecasting costs based on current trends
* Strong presentation skills
* General knowledge of actuarial concepts
* Public accounting experience, working in SAP, working with actuarial reports
