The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently has an opening for a Director Corporate Accounting & Reporting located at the corporate headquarters located in Akron, OH.

Dept. Description:
This position is also responsible for directing the SOX documentation and compliance requirements of Corporate Accounting and Reporting, as well as overseeing the monthly account reconciliation process and SOX testing for the other Corporate functional areas. Additionally, this position is responsible for directing the Akron R&D accounting function.

Responsibilities of the Position:
* Manage corporate closing processes to satisfy internal/external financial reporting requirements
* Advise SBUs and functional resources on relevant standards for compliance
* Ensure relevant business process controls and processes are documented and tested and that no unremediated control gaps exist by organizing and installing effective account reconciliation, review and oversight processes and hedging prior control related experience
* Direct the analytical activities and preparation of materials for use by executive management and business leadership for decision-making and strategic support, including information presented to the Audit Committee
* Develop and communicate accounting policies in the worldwide policy manual
* Present GAAP training at the controller's conferences, assist with the accounting for special/ complex transactions and interpret and communicate new accounting literature
* Hire and develop associates by transferring knowledge of operations, financial concepts and business issues.
* Utilize management tools to provide associates with performance feedback and facilitate their development

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree or higher level degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management.
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
* Big Four Public Accounting Experience
* Experience working in an environment requiring analytical response to a variety of business issues.
* Demonstrated results as a business team member (Finance Leader).
* Substantial experience and familiarity with ledger system, corporate reporting, SEC Compliance, derivative financial instruments and foreign exchange.
* Ability to focus on objectives and goals rather than obstacles and barriers.
* Ability to function in a team environment as a member and a leader.
* Unwilling to compromise personal integrity or business ethics and able to maintain confidentiality.
* Flexible, able to work extended hours and travel as required.
* Ability to view complex/conflicting data, identify problems and propose solutions/alternatives.
* Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP); off balance sheet financing arrangements; capital and operating leases.
* Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time; assess the workload and prioritize/delegate the work for maximum business benefit.
* Strong communication skills, to include ability to listen and articulate the business case (deliver effective presentations and demonstrate influence skills).
* Ability to create productive business environment for associates by providing opportunities to demonstrate/develop their skill sets.
* Effectively utilize performance management to optimize associate contribution.
* Competency with computer systems: database, spreadsheet, applicable system software, Internet, SAP, and micro-control. Ability to comprehend and communicate financial information to various audiences.
* Ability to manage large scale projects (planning and execution)
* Ability to work with all levels of the organization to achieve desired results.

Desired Qualifications:
* Masters in Business Administration and/or Juris Doctorate, Masters of Accounting
* Certified in Management Accounting (CMA)
* Certified Financial Manager (CFM)
* Continuous education in career field or personal development
* Financial controls/auditing experience
* Taxation experience
* Public Accounting experience
