Department Description:
Global Engineering and Manufacturing Technology has the responsibility to invent, design, and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear's Business Strategies achievable. This department engineers and integrates new technologies to support new products and increased manufacturing capability. It also provides direct and timely support to plant production, engineering, maintenance and energy conservation.
Job Content:
The successful candidate will work within the Final Finish & Test Team. The team is responsible for the design, procurement, development, and installation of various tire plant final finish and test equipment including force variation, dynamic balance, x-ray, shearography, resiliometers, grinding equipment and tooling.
The position requires a highly motivated self-starter who has the ability and desire to develop high level software programs designed for machine control. S/he must be able to work with manufacturing equipment and understand the interaction of mechanical and electrical devices. S/he must also be very familiar with statistical analysis as well as digital signal processing.
Responsibilities
*Design, develop, implement, and document test, measurement, data acquisition, and control applications using LabVIEW.
*Take ownership for the development of existing machine control program as well as any on-going support and product enhancements.
*Continually research for tools and ways to optimize the equipment process and then integrate those tools into the product.
*Participate in design review meetings.
Job Qualifications:
Requirements
* Bachelor's or higher level degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other 4-year technical degree.
* Minimum 1 year of experience developing automated test, measurement, data acquisition, and control systems using LabVIEW.
*Strong mathematics background, including signal processing in time and frequency domains and statistics.
*Experience with programmable logic controllers; Allen-Bradley is a plus.
*Willing to travel both domestically & internationally (travels averages 10%) although it will be higher initially in order to gain a clearer understanding of job responsibilities.
*Strong hands-on hardware troubleshooting and software debugging skills.
*Ability to function well in a team environment.
Preferred:
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Experience writing system and software requirements specifications.
*Experience creating documentation, system diagrams, schematic diagrams, etc.
*Experience with tire uniformity machines or balance equipment.
*Experience working with Oracle databases, SQL, and Stored Procedures.
*Strong interpersonal skills, character, and integrity.
