The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently has an opening for an Electronic/Radio & TV Technician at its Airship Operations base in the Los Angeles, CA area.

The Electronic/Radio & TV Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting and repairing the airships communication, navigation, electric/electronic and computer systems including, radar, power generation, electrical systems, avionics computer systems and TV broadcast equipment. This individual will also participate in scheduling, dismantling, assembling and adjusting of telecast equipment at sites. Additionally, the Electronic/Radio & TV Technician will inspect and repair and/or replace equipment (electronic, electrical, computer and TV) in compliance with FCC, FAA and Goodyear's instructions and regulations; drive ground services equipment in support of the Airship operations, participate in airship helium/air Pressure Watches" in rotation with other associates in order to maintain a safe masting conditions, maintain the integrity of the airships envelope; and work outdoors, assisting the landing crew to safely land/launch the airship. This position requires extensive travel for extended periods of time (4-6 months)

The qualified candidate will possess a high school diploma/GED, or advanced degree and related experience in electronics, radio, TV Broadcast, avionics or computer technology. Applicants should be proficient in all electrical manual skills (soldiering, splicing, etc) and at reading electrical schematic drawings. Familiarity with ground AC generator electrical systems and all basic electrical circuitry is required, as is experience with basic TV/Radio principles and circuits. Computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Lotus Notes is a must. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). FCC general license and aviation knowledge are preferred in order to obtain FCC general license within 6 months of employment. A minimum of a 2 year or higher level technical degree and an Airframe license are preferred.
