Engineering Technician, Tire Technology

Requirements

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently has an opening for an Engineering Technician at its' corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

Global Tire Engineering Department within Goodyear Technical Center * Akron
The Tire Engineering department is responsible for the design and technical release of new products, the maintenance of existing products, defining & maintaining the tire design process, and integrating new technologies into the product and process. All product lines, including consumer tires through commercial truck tires, in both North America and Latin America regions, are supported from Akron.

Responsibilities:
* Tire tracking & Inventory control
* Issue shipping documents
* Create & maintain tire cross section engineering drawings
* Tire release process - Cut tire measurement analysis, as-built vs as-designed drawing updates, issue test requests per approved test plan.
* Production monitoring data - cut tire analysis, footprint analysis, tire uniformity & weight analysis, etc
* Returned Tire process - Tire tracking, section preparation, cut tire analysis, initial inspection, photos
* Assist in preparation of presentations - photos, tire displays, charts, etc.
* Engineering data - Data book updates, Tire Specification updates, Customer drawings
* Benchmarking - Initial inspection, internet research, cut tire analysis, contractor analysis coordination, patent searches, etc.
* Tire Adjustment tracking reports
* Lab test data reports -data & Photos
* Lab vs predictive model data comparison
* Predictive model vs actual data comparison
* Specification research - Historical specification changes
* Summarize pre-policy tire reports
* Coordinate focus tests and track results
* Assist in plant releases - travel with engineer to assist in tire builds
* Tire fleet surveys
* Tire prep for displays
* Issue test requests and compile test data
* Obtain sections for post test analysis
* Assist in new test development
* Tire carving - logistics
* Assist in route mapping, weight/Temp studies, sensitivity studies, etc
* Lab treadwear - monitoring, test requests, data summary

Qualifications:
Requirement-
*Associate's or higher level degree in a technical field

Preferred experience-
*Microsoft Office
*Lotus Notes
*Basic statistics
*CAD or CATIA V4/V5
*CAPE/DMS/ORACLE
*EPDS
*GBSR3
