Executive Director

The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director.  The individual selected will replace incumbent retiring in the fall of this year.  The trade association represents the fast oil change industry throughout the US and Canada with small contingencies in several other countries.  With an annual budget of $1.2 million and a membership of 1200+ companies, AOCA has a headquarters staff of 5 plus several contractors.

 

The Executive Director reports to a seven-member Board of Directors and is responsible providing vision and direction in the oversight of all aspects of organizational management and operations.  The Executive Director is the key spokesperson for the association for the media, automotive industry groups, government agencies and advocacy organizations. 

 

The Executive Director oversees the AOCA programs including membership development, website and newsletters, annual conference and expo, and educational programs including technician certification programs and business owner skills enhancements seminars.  Experience with online learning systems a plus.

 

Qualifications include 5+ years experience in association management showing progressive responsibility.  A Bachelor’s Degree is required.  Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communications skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or association management systems.  Candidates must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to achieve objectives by coordinating the resources and efforts of the volunteer leadership, committees and full time staff.  Experience with regulatory and legislative issues is required as well as knowledge of and experience with industry public relations.

2.  Ensure high standards of service to members.

3.  Maintain relationships with other automotive service and supplier organizations.

4.  Maintain high standards of ethics and accountability in organizational management, ensuring sound fiscal management and compliance with regulations.

5.  Interface with the Board, including preparation of the annual budget, financial reporting, drafting organizational policies and implementing the strategic plan.

6.  Interface with regulatory and legislative bodies representing the interests of the fast oil change industry.
