Field Service Technician Technologist

Westport Innovations is currently seeking a highly motivated self-starter for the position of Field Service Technician to assist in our Long Beach operations. This position will specialize on the diagnostics, repair and maintenance of Westport’s HPDI trucks in Los Angles and to provide daily support to customers and coordinate and oversee designated service technicians or providers.

 

This position will be responsible for the following:

 

· Work with customers to co-ordinate maintenance and repair of HPDI trucks

· Troubleshoot and help diagnose and resolve product issues

· Develop and validate work instructions, repair procedures, and  troubleshooting guides

· Provide and develop mechanical and technical training on HPDI service, operation and maintenance

· Track, evaluate and report on HPDI fleet operations and reliability metrics and repair incidents

· Assist with warranty administration

 

The preferred candidate will have a degree in Technologists Diploma or Diesel Mechanic license and a minimum of 2 years in a vehicle service role. Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of heavy duty trucks and a familiarity with automotive workshops, or previous service or maintenance experience is essential. In addition candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, planning and scheduling abilities as well as strong interpersonal and communications skills both written and verbal. The ability to communicate well to people of varying technical ability is essential. Candidates fluent in English and Spanish preferred. This position requires the ability to accept highly flexible hours including weekends and nights and the availability to travel.

 

 

Service Coordinator - Heavy Duty Vehicles current opening — Long Beach, California

The role of Service Coordinator will be the first point of contact for our Heavy Duty service customers by providing the initial response to customer calls for performance problems and services requests; verifying warranty and service contract coverage; and maintaining customer rapport and records.  This role will have the following duties:  Clarify and gauge vehicle system problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; checking vehicle maintenance records. Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions. Prepares service orders for field service support by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well entering service information into service database system. Maintains customer rapport obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation. Maintains warranty records by recording problems and corrective actions planned. Enhances the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Provides field service office with office coordination and administration support

Skills/Qualifications:2-3 years of automotive or diesel truck  or industrial service experienceCommitment and desire to learn Heavy-Duty truck technologies by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.Technical understanding & attention to detail a mustStrong verbal, documentation and computer skillsStrong customer service skills with a demonstrated desire to exceed customer expectationsBilingual preferred - Fluent in both Spanish and English Post secondary education in a related field would be an asset.
