Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Operating Systems Administrator Senior is a technical position involving in-depth support of EMC storage and Symantec NetBackup. This incumbent will aid in the support of multiple computers. This can include but is not limited to storage & backup systems such as EMC DMX, Clariion, Centera, Celerra, Invista, and Connectrix products as well as Symantec NetBackup and Bocada in support of the following operating systems: UNIX, Windows, OS/400, VMWare, Netware, etc. This incumbent works at a basic level with networking concepts and administration as it relates to networked operating systems.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Involved with the installation, testing and maintenance of storage & backup systems.
2. Involved with the testing and implementation of storage & backup system upgrades and patches.
3. Troubleshoot intermediate level problems and recommend appropriate actions.
4. Participate in on-call support of storage & backup systems.
5. Work closely with storage & backup system/hardware vendor's technical support to resolve problems. Will be responsible for issue until a resolution is found.
6. Required use and document standard storage & backup system/hardware processes and procedures.
7. Work closely with the Operating Systems, Database and Application administrative personnel to ensure space requirements, backup procedures and performance needs are being met.
8. Involved with the configuration, implementation and maintenance of storage file system structures with little or no assistance.
9. Support backup/restore operational issues.
10. Maintain data integrity and security of server software.
11. Analyze and participate in capacity planning efforts of storage & backup systems.

Qualifications:

Required-
* Bachelor's or higher level Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent technical work experience is required. Equivalent work experience must include: 5 or more years information technology experience.
* 5 or more years of experience in Information Technology is preferred.
* A minimum of 2 years experience in storage & backup administration is required.
* Intermediate experience with storage & backup system administration, data storage techniques and storage & backup system monitoring tools.
* Intermediate experience with storage architecture and standards.
* Intermediate experience with one or more currently used storage & backup systems.
* Basic knowledge of networking standards.
* Good troubleshooting skills.
* Good organizational, communication and managerial skills.

* Will work under minimal supervision. Can handle most day to day tasks, but may be required to seek support from upper level administrators. Will be an active team member, with moderate responsibilities.
