Function

 

Responsible for the operation of the Parts Department, including supervising personnel, purchasing and selling parts, controlling expenses, maintaining inventory levels, and keeping the Branch General Manager advised on the overall operation of the department.

 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

Develop specific departmental plans.For prospecting new accounts. Following up on existing and inactive customers.Establishing a system to survey customer opinion and parts needs.Establishing goals for soliciting business by phone, in person and by direct mail.Maintaining company goals for inventory levels and annual turn rates.Ensuring that excess and aged inventory is disposed of on a continual basis.

Direct the purchase and sale of all parts.Maintain company targets for margins by reviewing OTC and shop work order pricing.Ensure timely invoicing to customers.Investigate any product or service complaints.Investigate and research new products to enhance customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and improve quality.

Perform periodic parts cycle counts and supervise annual physical inventory.  Ensure that inventory variance meets company expectations.

Direct the hiring, supervising, and training of parts personnel. Set performance standards for tasks, jobs and roles of employees.Provide ongoing feedback and support.Ensure conformance to personnel policies and other internal regulations.Schedule vacations, maintain attendance records and conduct performance reviews for parts personnel.

Maintain high standards for housekeeping in the customer parts area, parts room and storage trailers, and parts vehicles.

 

 

Qualifications/Knowledge

 In-depth knowledge of the trailer industry with an emphasis on trailer partsComprehensive knowledge of all trailer parts and their applicationsUnderstanding of inventory control procedures, including how they relate to company profitabilityAt least three years successful parts management with P/L responsibility preferredA “can-do” attitude with high personal and professional standards
