Do you enjoy figuring out how to create more functional, user-friendly web sites and designing web-based applications layouts? Are you a graphic designer who has experience designing web sites and web applications? Would you like to be part of an exciting, dynamic product management team focused on delivering products and services to the automotive industry on the Internet? Mobile Productivity Inc. (MPI) has an immediate opening for a full-time Web Graphical Designer with some product management responsibilities, in our Orem, Utah office.
The Web Graphical Design Manager coordinates and defines requirements for MPI products and services and is responsible for the success of the product line he or she is assigned to. This person will head a web development team responsible for creating a web application that integrates with our client-server application. This position will require a person who has graphical and web design talent, and can work within engineers to build web applications and pages that they design. In addition, this person will conduct research on the automotive market, MPI’s customers and competition; write product requirements; and define, prioritize, resolve, monitor and manage internal and external relationships to achieve product and company objectives.

Responsibilities and duties (including, but not limited to):

Design the graphics and layout for web sites and web applications

Lead and provide product direction for a team of engineers and quality assurance personnel

Define and drive product requirements, utilizing input from customers, partners, research, sales representatives, consultants, support, marketing, and trainers

Develop product roadmaps in support of company objectives

Work in conjunction with product development to prioritize all product requirements, define release scope, and establish release dates

Work with marketing to deliver supporting product and service collateral and to generate product definitions and awareness

Work with our development team during the product design and development phase to ensure requirements are being met and key web and graphical design input is being incorporated

Participate in and lead cross-functional teams responsible for preparing all aspects of the company for successful product launches

Provide sales support as needed for key account and referral account inquiries and requests

Own the product and demonstrate this ownership by becoming appropriately involved during all phases of the product life cycle and by regularly communicating the product status, features, benefits, competitive position, and business performance to all interested parties

Develop strategic partnerships to improve product scope and increase cross-product data communication


Required skills:

Keen eye for user interface design and a strong instinct for usability
3-5 years of web design or graphical design experience
Familiarity with human factor best practices
Strong marketing research skills
Superior innovation and creative talent
Ability to coordinate and prioritize ideas across an organization
Strong verbal and written skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and an appreciation for people and their ideas
Strong self-confidence, with a desire to learn, grow, and improve
Ability to be a team player; interested in doing the right thing, rather than being right


Strongly-desired qualities:

Experience designing and developing highly-usable web sites and web-based applications
Experience analyzing and evaluating front-end usability challenges and implementing effective design solutions
Knowledge of standard web coding concepts, best practices, and procedures
Experience designing and developing processes for measuring and analyzing user behavior on a web site or web-based application


Additional desired qualities:

Understanding of basic Internet system architectures
Working knowledge of Photo Shop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
3-5 years experience designing user interfaces for client server, web application, or web pages
Demonstrated experience managing a cross functional team in sales, services, engineering, consulting, training, engineering, and marketing
Automotive industry background
