135 - Diesel Performance Development Engineer

FEV, a global engineering services leader providing full vehicle support to the automotive community as well as the heavy-duty and commercial engine industry is seeking a qualified engineer who is experienced in the calibration and performance development of Diesel Engines. If you are interested in joining a team of experienced engineers developing advanced Diesel and Gasoline engines to address future fuel economy and emissions requirements, FEV is where you want to be.Position Responsibilities: The Performance Engineer will be assigned as a resident engineer on-site at an FEV customer for 1 year in Mossville, Illinois. Upon completion of assignment the Engineer will return to FEV in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  As a Performance Engineer you will work closely with FEV engineers and have responsibility for ensuring the optimal performance and exhaust emissions characteristics on diesel engines for on-highway truck, construction equipment and other non-road applications. The duties include identifying electronic engine control maps and strategies, specifying turbocharger, fuel system and air system requirements, analyzing engine performance and emissions data, as well as specifying engine design parameters. The Performance Engineers also work to resolve manufacturing issues related to performance, and are responsible for final documentation of engine performance.In addition, responsibilities will include analyzing data in order to optimize performance while maintaining emissions compliance, select and optimize engine hardware configurations, develop and archive engine performance control maps and work with internal customers to understand and attain the desired performance targets.Qualifications: Solid understanding of engine thermodynamic processes required Significant knowledge and understanding of internal combustion engine mechanical systems Experience in the area of engine controllers and associated calibration tools Excellent understanding of engine calibration methodologies Knowledge of diesel engine after-treatment systems Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and project management skills Exceptional customer communication and presentation skills 2 years minimum experience in related positions BSME minimum For more detailed information regarding FEV, Inc. feel free to visit our web site at www.fev.comEOE, M/F/V/D Company: FEV, Inc.
