Responsible for definition of requirements, design, analysis, development and control of simple systems where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Exercises technical direction over engineering support personnel. Experience in multiple cycles of Vehicle Development Process within area of responsibility.

 

 Prepares component technical specificationsSupport the development, refinement of criteria and typical sections using math data.Supports development of subsystem statement of requirementsSupports technical and design reviewsSupports preparation of subsystem technical specificationsDefines interface control document requirements for component parts, negotiates and reaches agreement with interfacing components, and works with others to resolve issuesPerforms appropriate component level studies/alternatives, and recommends program direction based on cost, mass, timing, design for assembly, variation and other program imperativesSupports Product Development team for component parts (e.g. timing, parts list, design for manufacturing)Supports the validation of the designs by using analytical tools; including finite element, modal, virtual builds and others at component levelReleases components/subsystems to meet system requirementsSupports engineering activities with other functions (e.g. suppliers, suppliers quality, purchasing) to ensure delivery of product meeting requirements and imperativesDiagnoses and corrects deficiencies using statistical problem solving and quality control methods, including support of production launch (Problem Resolution and Tracking System) Assists in planning and implementing test and/or development programsStays abreast of new technologyUses best practicesFamiliar with engineering operations, processes, simultaneous imperatives managementCommunicates information to and from internal and external customer organizationsCoordinates and consults with departments outside engineering such as manufacturingRegular contact with others outside the work groupTravels as required
