Accounting Manager 
(San Carlos, CA)Tesla Motors ( www.teslamotors.com ) is designing and building the first commercially successful, all electric, battery driven, high-performance automobile. We are growing quickly and internationally, and seek the right person to help keep us ahead of the pack. Our current search is for a tax expert to develop and implement policies and procedures to minimize our U.S. and international tax exposures, including sales and use tax, value added taxes, custom excise tax and duties, business and property tax, and income taxes for all our domestic and international subsidiaries.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Manage the monthly close process including legal entity consolidation
• Prepare, review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare foreign currency translation of foreign subsidiaries financial statements
• Provide accounting support to accountants of foreign subsidiaries
• Settle intercompany transactions with foreign subsidiaries
• Manage maintenance of chart of accounts, vendor and customer master data in SAP
• Manage the audit process, internally and with the external auditors
• Document and improve accounting policies and procedures
• Prepare monthly internal financial reports for management and investors
• Research and document technical accounting and financial reporting issues
• Manage staff of 3 and associated responsibilities including recruitment, training and development

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA highly desired
• 3-5 years related experience in US GAAP, financial reporting, SOX Compliance, account reconciliation, consolidation, foreign currency translation.
• Sound accounting base, strong analytical and organizational skills
• Strong financial systems and business application skills including Excel and Power Point
• SAP or other tier 1 ERP system experience a must
• Experience with Quickbooks a plus
• Working knowledge of high tech manufacturing environment a must
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiar with cost accounting for assembled products preferred
• Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy required
• Initiative and independence, deadline oriented
• Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations with ability to multi-task effectively without compromising the quality of work
• Team player with positive attitude
