And we welcome anyone who shares our commitment to ingenuity and excellence.EOE/AA EmployerJob Title:  Advanced Manufacturing EngineerLocation:  Plymouth, MI Central Technology Unit (CTU)  Functional responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer includes the following: The successful candidate will provide technical support and leadership across JIT Operations for the development and improvement of manufacturing equipment and rolling out of appropriate manufacturing standards. Primary responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer include the following: ** Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods through the utilization of the following technical knowledge:  Product design; materials and parts; fabrication processes; tooling; production equipment; assembly methods; quality control; and safety standards.** Working with vendors to accomplish the following initiatives:  Purchase capital equipment and tooling, materials or parts; and evaluate equipment and systems specifications.** Responsible for planning and executing equipment re-deployments and capital reduction initiatives.** Provide JIT plant feedback of manufacturing standards for identification of Continuous Improvement (CI) and Best Business Practices (BBP).** Provide technical support and data for the Design & Assembly Initiative** Conduct process and systems post-installation reviews and evaluation sessions, and based upon results of review, recommend appropriate changes or improvements. ** Communicate weekly the status of all on-going projects.** Provide support to AMEs by assisting them with quoting, due diligence, bid comparisons/pricing and other items within candidate’s functional area of expertise.** Adhere to Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) internal processes, set standards, procedures and management reviews. Successful candidates must meet the following qualifications:  ** Requires extensive amount of travel to various North America Operations facilities and vendor sites.** Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.** Minimum 5 yrs previous experience working in a Manufacturing Engineering; Automotive JIT manufacturing experience preferred.** Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office and AutoCAD experience required ** Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. ** Demonstration of strong presentation and communication skills; emphasis on clear and concise, verbal and written, technical documentation. ** Must be open to working a flexible schedule in order to meet business demands.
