Sky Wash Detail, envisioned it the very late 1990s and launched in early 2000, redefined the car washing experience across the southeast. (See “The Sky Story”). A trailblazer in the service and retail sector, Sky was the first to make recurring-revenue subscriptions and five-star service the very core of our strategy in car washing. Since opening, Sky has become the most profitable luxury car care facility of its kind anywhere in the world and is currently pursuing a strategy of domestic and international expansion through franchise and management partnerships.

The Sky Story
Single-handedly defying the norms of an industry is a tall order for any business. Then again, Ben Fox and Mike Ferguson, founders of Sky Wash Detail, have never been the type to fall in line.
Fed up with the way most washes treated their cars, Fox and Ferguson began to question the car wash experience. "We realized," Ferguson explains, "that there was zero emphasis in the industry on innovative service, which would make people feel like it was an experience and not just something they had to do." At 22, the two inspired men moved to Atlanta to start planning Sky: "a place with standards that go five steps beyond what is expected" says Fox.
Months of research and working experience at local car washes yielded a plan of action. Sky would be the car wash where you can check e-mail over coffee while your BMW gets the buffing of its life.
Aspirational comfort "Beyond what is expected" became the rallying cry for the duo when they teamed up with top-notch architects and interior wunderkinds to create a space in which you'd want to hang out. Plastic "leather" and vinyl was banned and linoleum made extinct; the lawn furniture sent to the scrap heap. Sky's identity, from its logo to its sales and marketing literature were created by a top design consultancy.
Sky has since developed the most advanced wash techniques and procedures to redefine client expectations. Sky's wash process employs only ultra-soft tunnel cloths, recycles 90% of water, is safe and friendly to both the environment and our client’s vehicles.
Sky has since become known for pioneering new concepts to increase value for its customers. In June of 2001, Sky invented the unlimited car washing concept: Sky One allows clients to pay one rate monthly and visit as frequently as they like. Since its launch, Sky’s Sky One program has grown at a double-digit pace year after year.
Determined to revolutionize the way we bathe our Benz, Fox and Ferguson have spared no detail. It is their pride in delivering a better experience and better value that has many refusing to trust their wheels to any other wash.
As a result, since their opening in 2000, Sky is the destination for the sort of driver who looks lovingly upon their car as they walk away from it. With the aim of wowing even the most blasé driver, Sky invites every guest to be spoiled.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Significantly grow revenue and profit.
- Significant growth of membership subscription program through corporate, group, and individual sales.
- Development of Franchise and Management contract opportunities
across the brand.
- Growth of membership subscription program.
- Growth of non-membership profit centers such as diagnostics, retail
products and customized fitness planning.
- Develop and execute sustainable marketing strategies of companies.
- Lead in the development of new products and services in an effort to create new profit centers and expand that exist.
- Responsible for effective internal coordination to successfully pursue corporate objectives, collaborating with, and accountable to the company owners.
- Building, enhancing and protecting the Brands through the implementation and refinement of the operating model.
- Support and lead the growth and development of the Operations and Development of new stores and new business opportunities within existing stores.
- Build, develop, implement and lead support systems for the franchise, licensee, and management-company network that foster increased consistency, sales growth, lower costs and higher profitability
- Negotiate and structure deals deemed to be consistent with the firm’s financial and brand objectives
- Ensure that all marketing activities enhance brand image and comply with corporate directives and initiatives
- Participate heavily in all aspects of business, marketing, new client and staff recruitment.
Requirements
• 5+ years senior management experience in franchising, development, licensing, or management-company operations.
• Expert knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Expert writing skills.
• Expert organizational skills.
• A consistent, predictably pleasant personality.
• Unquestionable integrity.
• A “first to arrive, last to leave,” work ethic.
• A history of working 60-70 hour weeks.
• Bachelors degree in Business or related field. A Masters degree an advantage
(though not without ample experience in the field after obtaining the Masters
degree).
• Marketing and customer acquisition program development and implementation
• Proven ability to develop and implement new strategies
• Ability to develop trusting relationships and lead others to exemplary levels of
performance
• Strong sense of goal orientation and drive in an environment where results are
measured and matter
• Experience in the areas of management contract or franchise agreement negotiation
and closing
• Track record of success in reducing costs, improving profits, and streamlining
operations.
• Ability to negotiate agreements that optimize and protect the firm’s interests
• Experience in feasibility and financial analysis or accounting preferred
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify the financial and legal issues
associated with management contracts and franchise agreements
• Ability to manage and motivate team toward the achievement of annual business objectives
• Ability to interface effectively with the firm’s senior management and to represent the firm to third party owners and partners, city officials and consultants
• Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and manage multiple assignments
simultaneously
• Strong background analyzing the competition and adapting strategies and tactics in
the marketplace
Compensation / Benefits
• Salary: $50-60,000.
• Bonus: $12,000-$30,000+ Potential
• Vacation: 2-4 weeks based on tenure.
