Automotive Engineer - Continuous Improvement/Lean

Our clients understand that our decades of industry experience give us unique insight and access to top talent at all levels.  A well established manufacturer seeks an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer for one of its Southeastern locations.  This position is located in Tennessee – Apply only if you are able and willing to relocate for this opportunity. JOB SUMMARY:   Reporting to the Continual Improvement Manager, leading the lean conversion at the local facility, and supporting the efforts to ensure standardization of the changes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Translate Customer Requirements to Product Requirement· Develop Design Concepts.· Prepare, Direct and approve Documentation of the Design.· Perform Design Analysis (DFMEA, DFM/A, Worst Case Analysis).· Develop Test Plans and Verification Test of Design.· Analyze Test results.· Utilize ECO Process for Continuous Improvement, etc…· Develop and support Cost Reduction Concepts and activities.· Support Problem Analysis, Corrective Actions and Customer Requests.· Investigate New Technologies and Products.· Present new/modified design concepts to customer. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · Four year Engineering or Technical Degree, Industrial Engineering preferred.· Background or training with Toyota Production Systems / Lean Manufacturing concepts.· 2+ years in a technical role supporting manufacturing processes.  · Experience with Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard work, Work Combination Tables, Line Balancing,· Process Flow and basic knowledge of Toyota Production Systems / Lean Manufacturing. · Automotive and Quality Systems knowledge a plus. BASIC/SPECIFIC SKILLS:  Fluent in English, both written and oral, good interpersonal skills, able to function as part of a multicultural team, require minimum supervision, minimal travel, able to work overtime.
