Successful candidates will take a “hand’s on” approach and look forward to new challenges and opportunities every day.  This position is located in Tennessee – Apply only if you are able and willing to relocate for this opportunity. JOB SUMMARY:  The Senior Design Engineer coordinates all phases of product development including design, testing, analysis and project management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Creates concepts and designs of new washer pumps for automotive applications.  Leverages experience, knowledge of materials, processes and magnetics to create designs that are cost effective and robust in a high volume manufacturing environment.  · Magnetic FEA will be used as well as 3D modeling systems.  · Follows and monitors time lines and schedules according to Product Development Management System and Advanced Quality Planning guidelines.  · Facilitates concurrent engineering teams.· Applies Advanced Quality Planning tools (APQP) to the design effort to assure robust on-time product development. Required outputs of the design process are thorough documentation of the design, proper tolerance of the fluid systems in both electrical and mechanical domains, a successful design validation protocol and internal and customer sample parts.· Leads Designers and Lab Technicians to accomplish the above.  Participates in project cost estimating.· Performs investigative engineering analysis of all types as required, performs complex engineering calculations and computer simulations.· Communicates with customers and suppliers as technical expert.· Analyzes/specifies/approves part designs based on familiarity with manufacturing materials, processes and applications.· Recommends design tools to improve design efficiency and productivity.  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · 4 year engineering degree – BSEE or BSME  · 10 + years experience designing automotive pumps · Thorough knowledge of automotive pump applications · Experience using 3D CAD modeling system. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: · Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities· Participative work style· Well-developed interpersonal skills.  Ability to get along with diverse personalities.  Tactful, mature. · Ability to establish credibility and be decisive – but able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.· Good communication skills, written and verbal· Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.  Word BankAutomotive, pumps, fluid, CAD, Design, Lean MRINetwork is the largest and most successful search organization in the world.
