Body Damage Manager - Newark, NJ

This job contributes to the success of Avis Budget Group, by managing one or more of the daily Avis and Budget  maintenance and damage operations functions on or off airport to ensure maximization of fleet utilization, incremental revenue, customer satisfaction and employee management.  Responsibilities and essential job functions included, but are not limited to: Coordinating automotive damage appraisals/repairs and all activities related to the mechanical repairs and maintenance offleet vehicles to obtain maximum utilization of fleet and prevent operational delays.  Managing vendor relationships to verify that vehicles are repaired in accordance with damage appraisals and to company standards (equipment, insurance, repair procedures, etc.) and negotiating prices and terms of business agreements.  Managing the procurement of company owned and operated automotive fleet repair equipment, materials, supplies, and parts required to maintain fleet vehicles and facilities. Reviewing business plans, financial statements, productivity and capacity reports, quality assurance reports, idle vehicle reports, and customer complaint logs and addresses any problems within specified areas. Communicates with operations management in identifying collision damages and the proper reporting of damages. At Busing Locations: Ensures that all buses are up and running and coordinates mechanical and body damage repairs Controls all new car deliveries to ensure proper prepping, tagging, and numbering.  Ensures that new vehicles are inspected and a sticker is applied to prepare them for rental. Ensuring proper staffing and the use of overtime hours to maximize the effectiveness of the Maintenance function.  Conducting annual performance appraisals for direct reports, recommending salary increases, providing individual feedback to improve performance, and initiating corrective action in response to personnel problems Ensures that technicians participate in training programs to ensure that they meet manufacturer training standards. Required Experience High School Degree plus 2-4 years of college preferred (or equivalent in education, experience or training). Minimum of one year of supervisory management experience required; three or more years of supervisory management experience preferred in a service oriented field.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective supervisory, communication, organizational, and creative problem solving skills. Ability to effectively interact with customers and the public. Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
