We are currently in need of an experienced Buyer at our Clinton, MI facility.
Primary Duties: Regularly review purchasing and plant policies for applicability and ensure compliance. Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of purchased price variance (PPV) data; responsible for developing written plans and achieving cost-containment objectives in alignment with plant and corporate cost saving goals and budget. Ability to negotiate with suppliers while utilizing standard purchasing processes such as Request for Quotes, quote analyses and make/lease versus buy logic. Obtain and review weekly production schedule, know how to find customer releases for confirmation of demand, utilize Sales and Operating Plan (S&OP) and communicate with supplier to set min/max levels and/or reorder points and to develop and maintain lean supply chain systems to ensure a smooth and consistent flow of material to the plant while minimizing plant inventory (without causing expedites, unscheduled production changes or stock outs).Responsible for buying all categories of commodities, purchased direct, critical indirect, and indirect materials.Maintain current service contracts, liability releases, certificates of insurance, confidentiality agreements and any other documents as described in applicable Standardized Operation Procedures (SOP’s) to protect plant and reduce risk.Maintain supplier files and profiles as described in applicable SOP’s including emergency contacts, lead times, supplier union status and other relevant data.Conduct Supplier Audits where necessary for compliance with TS16949, maintain an expedite log of all incoming material, regardless of reason for expedite, and secure supplier expedite logs on a quarterly basis.Participate in internal purchasing audits to ensure “Effective” ratings on all financial audits conducted by corporate auditor teams.
Qualifications Required:2 + years of experience in purchasing or engineering Bachelor’s Degree Automotive or Tier 1 experience Proven contract negotiations Excellent verbal and written and communication skills; Excellent computer skills using spreadsheets, access, etc Experience with lean supply chains
