Chemical Engineer

Summary: Manage activities of supervisors and workers engaged in the flexible foam production department to produce quality urethane foam parts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

·  Operate and trouble shoot in-house poly urethane foam operation for seats for recreational vehicles.

·  Supervising, overseeing, coordinating, and implementing all foam systems

·  Instruct and train line associates to improve their ability to control the variable conditions encountered in producing quality urethane parts.

·  Control process parameters to include conveyor speed, process temperatures and pressures, pour patterns, spray patterns, and mold & oven temperatures in a proactive approach.

·  Recommend methods to achieve maximum results at minimum cost while maintaining acceptable level of quality.

·  Responsible for the continuous process improvements of scrap, quality and productivity.

·  Review and assist in the new model trials, start-up, or tooling changes. Responsible for setting recipes/ programs and production processes for all new models.

·  Develop plan, test procedures and apparatuses for all material improvement evaluations.

·  Must determine and establish requirements for environmental impact and training for associates.

·  Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

·  Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

·  Analyzes and resolves process issues with foam line.

·  Initiate plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

·  Maintain production records.

·  Confer with other supervisors to coordinate production activities.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

·  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of processes and associates in the foam department. 

·  Administer corrective measures in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.

·   Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



Qualifications:

·  Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.

·  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

·  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

·  Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

·  Ability to use numerical data to solve practical problems

 

Education/Experience

Minimal B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering and 1-2 years of experience as a chemical engineer
