COMPENSATION Manager
General Duties of the Job: Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs. Evaluates salaried, hourly, middle, and top management positions. Assists in administration of performance appraisal and salary administration programs, reviewing changes in wages and salaries for conformance to policy. Audits evaluation of positions and application of existing classifications to individuals. Conducts and participates in compensation surveys. Assists in updating the salary structure.
POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE CORPORATE OFFICES OF CARQUEST IN RALEIGH, NC.
Required Skills: At least 7 years of experience at a Compensation Analyst with at least 3 years as a Compensation Manager. Must possess an advance level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel. Must be able to use all Microsoft Office products. Ability to manage shifting priorities, deadlines, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and leadership skills.
Task List:
1. Manages the annual salary review process by taking a lead role with participating in salary surveys, benchmarking and evaluating market data and conducting analysis to make recommendations for management.
2. Manages the annual merit increase process by disseminating data and working with managers to obtain recommended increases, prepares cost analysis, presents cost analysis to executive management and ensures a timely delivery of approved increases to the payroll department for processing.
3. Assists in administration of performance appraisal and salary administration programs, reviewing changes in wages and salaries for conformance to policy.
4. Functions as an internal consultant on compensation practices by supporting the company management with analysis and recommendations when making job offers, creating job descriptions, assigning pay grades, and identifying appropriate job titles in order to maintain internal equity and a competitive compensation plan.
5. Researches and identifies salary surveys and makes recommendations for purchase or participation in order to ensure that the company maintains quality market data for the benchmarking process.
6. Responsible for participating in identified salary surveys to minimize the cost of obtaining market data and ensure that the company obtains quality data for the benchmarking process.
7. Develops, implements, and maintains compensation plans in the distribution centers and stores in order to ensure a competitive pay structure is maintained.
8. Obtains and analyzes salary structure survey data in order to present structure movement recommendations to management.
9. Responsible for conducting periodic job documentation audits to ensure that positions are properly classified and graded and maintain internal equity.
10. Supports the Performance Management Process (PMP) by disseminating PMP documentation, guidance, and training in order to ensure company goals are aligned throughout the entire organization.
11. Provides project leadership to other compensation staff members.
