Corporate Commodity Manager- Chemicals

SUMMARY:

 

The Corporate Commodity Manager for Chemicals will be responsible for commodity strategy and cost reduction on a world-wide basis.  Responsibilities will include developing and implementing commodity strategies, market analysis, supplier identification, selection, and cost reduction.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

§ Demonstrates teamwork by collaborating with others to improve overall standards of performance and service.

§ Provides good customer service to all customers, both internal and external

§ Work closely with plant materials and other business leaders to define the requirements for supply.  

§ Identification of capable potential suppliers worldwide in assigned commodities.

§ Qualification, evaluation and selection of the best suppliers for CVG.

§ Negotiation and finalizing comprehensive supply agreements for key suppliers to deliver year-over-year value to CVG.

§ Creation, approval and maintenance of dynamic supply strategy for commodities.

§ Creating and maintaining an approved supplier list from which the divisions may source.

§ Meet or exceed defined cost reduction goals for commodities/suppliers assigned.

§ Provide world class service to the Manufacturing Organizations at the best total value.  To purchase materials in the highest quality to meet 100% on time delivery.

§ To identify issues and concerns effecting quality and initiating steps to correct and resolve then in an effective and expeditious manner.

§ Responsibility to the program team to assure, support and manage the programs within the functional area.

§ May be required to coordinate various internal programs.

§ Project Management following APQP process for some key savings projects

§ Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 Minimum of five (5) years experience in purchasing or equivalent.Knowledge of benchmark purchasing industry procedures and standard practices.Expert knowledge of cost drivers, suppliers and trends in various world markets.Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college with business or engineering concentration or equivalent experience.Working knowledge/understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Oracle, Baan)

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 English fluencyCapability in Czech, Chinese Mandrin, Russian, or Spanish a plus

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

 

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 Ability to understand, develop and optimize complex supply chains.Understanding of total cost concepts of business.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 CPIM, CPM preferred, but not required.
