Diesel Mechanic

We maintain and operate a fleet size of 1,200 late model air-ride equipped trailers and 350 well-maintained late model tractors, with an equal blend of Company Drivers, Lease Drivers and Owner Operators. We are currently looking for best in class Diesel Mechanics.

 

ACT takes pride in and works hard to find people who share our commitment to quality and success so with that in mind; we are currently seeking best in class Level 2 and Level 3 Tractor/Trailer Mechanics for the night shift at our new 24,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Maintenance Facility located in Kansas City, MO.

 

Job Duties

Level 2 Tractor/Trailer Mechanic

· Troubleshoot Trailer electrical diagnosis & repair

· DOT inspection and certification

· Basic Arc or MIG welding 

· Troubleshoot and repair components on the brake system

· Clutch, transmission, & differential replacement

· Troubleshoot and repair components in the cab system

· Troubleshoot and repair components in the cooling system

· Heater diagnosis & component replacement

· 5th wheel adjustment, repair and overhaul

· Complete quality tractor & trailer PM checklist

 

Level 3 Tractor/Trailer Mechanic

· Must be proficient with all Level 2 skills

· Electronic engine diagnosis & repair

· Complete electrical system diagnosis & repair

· Complete driveline diagnosis & repair

· Oil, coolant leak decisions, repair vs. wait to PM 

· Trailer structural repair

· Satellite diagnosis & repair

· Complete cooling system diagnosis & repair

· Steering system diagnosis & repair diagnosis and repair

 

 Job Skills

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Class A Tech School, preferred

· Excellent verbal/written communication & interpersonal skills

· Show ability to work alone or with in a team environment

· Proactively works on individual developmental

· Identifies trends with equipment failures

· Best value decisions on part & component replacement

· High energy level

· Proven ability to handle multiple projects

· Previous AS400 software experience preferred
